Miriam

Miriam comes over and holds her head forward. Stroke the short fur on her head, between the ears, the big eyes looking up, then they close.
She starts to purr.
It is early, the shower outside is over, and the warm shower in the bathroom is over too.
Miriam rushes ahead into the kitchen, her four legs a mechanical blur under the tawny furred body, tail erect with excitement. Open the refrigerator, take out the can, and put some of the contents onto her plate.
She feeds, a bit. The catfood is too cold.

Make a cup of coffee.
Make a slice of toast.
The day can start.

The morning is cool, but the day promises to be hot. There is condensed water on the outside of the car, obscuring vision. Take a smal cloth and wipe the windows.

And then start the long run to work, there will be heavy traffic on the motorway today.
