nothing works

The depressions are back with a pain in the legs. It is just a steady soreness and stiffness, a muscular ache. Wake up so early that it is almost obscene, try to remain in bed but eventually have to go downstairs to the bathroom and then decide to have a shower. Take the pills, get dressed, and go down to the shop. Use the facilities there to make a cup of coffee, and have bits of the other edibles there.

The spirits sink constantly, read the news, read about the commencement of unitary authoritarian rule in the united States north of Mexico and wonder and find that depressing too.

Go out and start to walk about town searching for a barber. Go in to one that is open and before knowing what is going on have an appointment. Return to the walkabout town for half an hour, and then return to the barber. It is a complex styling outfit , all that is required is a simple haircut.

It is over soon, and the head will is more stylish now.

Continue to wander about town, and now depressions really start to settle in, The weather is marvellous and the town is full of optimistically grinning people. The feelings say that this is revolting. It is not, but that is what the feelings do to you.

Return home and start to write up the details of the pictures hung in the exhibition.

Go to the gallery, to double-check. Three thins are in error, the rest are in order.

Return home, write a mail with all the details. It is now an Excel chart. What a load of bollocks.

Go upstairs to the sunny bedroom and lie down, sleep will not come.

Downstairs, read the mail. The answer is not as expected. Try to confer with the artist. He has been sleeping again.

What the hell, nothing works

the joy of the day

The morning was spent worrying and tidying and as of two in the afternoon the day was spent hanging the pictures of  the little wooden sculptures with the help of the artist who made the little figures in the first place. The man still cannot get over seeing his work in a life sized scale, or even half life sized.

In he morning there  was an electronic note from the Argentine, insulted because of the lack of invitation to the opening of the exhibition. Write to him and say that all are welcome, and on the way to the gallery pass by his house and put an invitation card into his letterbox. Who knows, maybe he will be less insulted now.

The gallery owner and his wife are in the premises with the person showing the last show. He leaves, we rehang the three big pictures.

Then home again, and contact the artist. The man is busy.

Return to the gallery later and sit down and wait. The gallery owner and his wife return,  and with their help put up the three big pictures.

Then the artist turns up, and there it is, spend the rest of the day hanging the pictures, putting tiny nails into the walls, tending to the laser, making measurements.

In the evening, two bottles of beer and a pizza later, all is done and finished.

And then spend time talking about prices.

And sizes.

And other issues.

Money, nothing wrong with that.

At the end of the day, sitting in the shop typing these notes the son taps upon the window.

That is the greatest joy of the day.

imminent catastrophe

The cat is outside the door making her noises, maybe she  is explaining that she requires food, maybe she is calling for company. It is evening, the evening news has been heard and seen.

The day was spent in a strange sort of exhaustion. The legs hurt. There is little explaining of it. Perhaps that fast walk up the hill on Monday is at fault.

Life is spent skulking in the corners of the house, trying to avoid the desolation in all of the big rooms in use by the wife. It will not do, it will not go on for much longer. It seems to have been going on for ever already.

A walk around town was enjoyed, and a warm soup was had at the Thai place.

But somehow, the feeling of imminent catastrophe will not go away.

talons

Last night was spent trying to sharpening chisels. Not because of an special ability,  just to see if it would work to use the same methods used on a retouching knife. Retouching knives were last use nearly fifty years ago. The method seems to work.

This morning was a drag. It was nearly impossible to get up sensibly. Go downstairs, it is miserable to make abreakfast on the single hob of the Ikea hotplate.

awaste time until midday, then raecieve a package. It is a single ink for the printer.Unpack it and check the state of the contents. They seem in order.

Take train to Passau and Spend timewondering around the Town.

It is an enjoyable few hours.

On the return journey watch a hawk drop into a cornfield, vanish, and then flap away slowly with something in his talons.

The train sped on and then stoped. The driver gave an announcement over the public address system that she had been ordered to proceed slowly as people had been seen walking on the tracks.

She proceeded slowly, she is a train driver who does her job well.  Arrival in Landshut was delayed by ten minutes. This is not bad at all, considering.

Take the bus home, and this is on the home computer, and later on there will be more things to do, but these will come later.

Or tomorrow

nuisance

It was a late evening yesterday, earlier with the happy elderly couple and a rigatoni in a pizzeria, and then in the artists studio. It was a big surprise that the same technique that was used for sharpening retouching knives works well for wood carving tools. The artist said that they were sharper than with other methods. Oh well, a new occupation for yours truly.

Awakening was unpleasant this morning, it would be pleasant just to stay in bed. There was nothing planned for the day at all. Now it is five in the evening and the day is almost done with.

There is nowhere to go and it is so hard to make up the mind to do something.

There is no point at all.

And this continuous falling asleep is a nuisance. Perhaps it would be as well to go upstairs and get some rest.

sleepy sunday with the Times

After last nights celebrations this morning's wakening was an example of what rising from the dead must have been like. But it was important to get up and to check upon the weather.Get dressed, go downstairs, go out into the street. Greet an early neighbour, and telephone the friends as it starts to rain. We establish that it is a bad idea to have a long walk today, the chances are too high that it will turn into a damp misery.

Return inside and check the data on the computer and make some more breakfast. Then have a game of world, the New York Times version. With a bit of luck manage to solve it in four attempts. The solution refers to a business model, at this time popular in the United States of America.

Make an espresso.

Read the news on the computer, it seems that now the world is made up of bullies.

There is time for an afternoon sleep, to supplement the lack of sleep during the night.

Go out in the late afternoon for a short walk in the dying rain. The streets are damp, and people are dressed in plastic padded jackets, these are good against the cold

Return home, and take a rest on the couch again.

This evening there will be time spent in a small pizzeria.

A chat with a friendly couple.

restored wooden

the day had an early start until thr enthusiasm dissolve in the black misery pf yet another depression. After doing a few things in the morning, walked to the top of the hillside park and looked at those rhea birds for anwhile. Then walked down the hill, putting an invite into the camera collectors letter box on the way.

After that buy a tiny quantity ofgroceries in the shops and go home.

Visit the gallery crowd in their restaurant later and then go home.

There Depressions hold the attention all afternoon.

In the evening there is a lecture cum party to attend to.

It is a vernissage showing the construction of a restored wooden house.

nowhere

The light in the early morning is lovely, it is easier to awaken now. Resolve to take it easy, as people who go to work are advised to take things easy. Finish the prints for the exhibition, and receive the gallery man with his posters. Stick them to the glass in the shop window, nobody will look at them anyway. But they are there and they will function as an alibi for something.

Fix the lock on the main door to the house, now it does not jam any more. It was worrying last night, returning home and finding the door open. But it should be all right now.

Time will show.

Things are strange today, there is no wish to go out and there is this constant hissing between the ears.

Perhaps a visit to the pub would be in order later on today, perhaps not.

It is just that there is a dull feeling to everything now. The loud voices from the street, people talking to each other loudly.

It is a piercing noise.

And there is nowhere to want to go to at all.

the wife's animal

Psycho problems are not to be talked about until it is too late and there is no other explanation for what happened. Whatever it was, it was and whatever is to be done about it is in the future. There is no winning now.

Miserable morning stuck in the beauty of a bedroom with a view of the heights of the Isar valley over the rooftops. Nothing is beautiful when stuck in misery. The wife in the pub last night, and there is the realisation that this state will not go on for ever. But it will go on too long. The friends all sympathetic but their lack of knowledge of the situation's details leave them in the dark. The needed help will not come from there.

The work for the exhibition is complete and now the preparations are under way for the next one, the one in the pub. There has to be a way to pay for a sensible mounting of the pictures so that the curved surface of the unmounted paper does not catch the glare of the lights and reflect into the eyes of the viewer.

The cat buts her head against the legs and then the chairs legs. This serves to remind that it will be necessary to buy cat food tomorrow or the wife's animal will go hungry.

sensible

The morning was spent with a serious disorientation, the sound of people talking to each other was unbearable and caused anger. It is like the situation described by a friend who suffers from schizophrenia.  is a thing called psychosis. Hopefully it will go away as the day proceeds.

In this condition drive the car to the supermarket to buy a crate of beer. Understand the anger and the rage at the surrounding people going about their business. Take all possible steps to avoid interaction. Wave shop assistants away who want to be helpful. Take the car with the beer back home, slowly and carefully. Take it easy. Bring the case ohotf beer into the shop. Relax. That was a stupid thing to do.

Go out to the small cafe. Control the impatience. Listen, order a filter coffee and a cinnamon roll.

Sit down and chat to two elderly ladies.

calm down.

Go home and start to trim the photos for the exhibition.

There is a call from the gallery owner.

Go to the gallery and collect the invitation cards

Spend the remainder of the afternoon trimming the pictures and numbering them all.

A friend arrives, go out for a meal.with him.

Get rid of the window that has been hanging about in the old workshop for years now. Somebody always walks around the corner who wants something.

In the evening, the psychosis like situation starts again.

perhaps a change of clothes and a visit to the pub would be sensible.

solitary day

Woke feeling awful. Everything was sore, every joint hurt a bit. Go downstairs to the lavatory,  It is five in the morning. Go back to bed, feel a bit like death. At six the bells ring all over town.

Outside the open  balcony door a blackbird gives a series of monotonous squeaky noises. Sit up and look the yellow billed bird in the eye. It looks back, no knowing what the other eye is seeing.

Then it flies away.

Downstairs in the old shop make a cup of coffee. Read the news. That president of America has been taken for a walk by the Russian dictator. And the american people are getting what the majority voted for. Nothing new here, nothing much has changed from yesterday.

Make a test print of s little figure on paper that is designed for printing photos. It works well, but the surface catches every glare. Technically it is better, but it is more uncomfortable to look at.

Buy a second work table. It will be needed.

O mein Gott

The young woman in the corner seat in the pub said "O mein Gott" a sort of exclamation. A multilingual expression horrified amazement. She is part ist Part of the Group sitting in the corner of the deserted pub.

The day was spent editing the pictures taken yesterday.

A new print profile was set up

a walk taken around this small town

And now stuck in the pub typing these notes into the phone , not a decent keyboard any where in sight.

This is a decent keyboard now, the letters flow onto the page with a minimum of mistakes and other problems. Left the pub to the Italian restaurant owner who only wanted to talk about cars.

The group in the corner was interesting enough, the O mein gott was unusual, normally the kids here all stick to the american version.

There will still be work to do tomorrow, for the big exhibition in the small local photographic gallery. There are the three prints to be redone.

And it will be desirable to buy another case of the beer that stays in the refrigerator here, it is a pleasant drink in the evening.

Sunday, 18 May 2025

left until tomorrow.

sorry for the chaotic post yesterday.

In the morning, retouch the pictures, and in the afternoon go to a birthday party. It is the seventy fifth birthday of a very talkative photographer. But he has done well out of his trade. His three daughters are there and they are all more or less successful. One is an actor, one is psychologist and one has a job. They are all well. Take pictures at the party as was expected. That is a sort of a freebee job. There are many people there, all very high class in their way. In the evening, drive back from Munich . Take it very easy, for their is no hurry. Park the car on the big public car park just on the outskirts of town, for they will be doing construction work on the place where the car is usually parked.

Having arrived at home retouch the remaining file and make a test print. This print looks moderately successful.

Then resolve to go out to the pub to have a drink.

Editing the pictures from the birthday party can be left until tomorrow.

Returned home late the night before last

woke early yesterday

spent all day printing the pictures for the exhibition

All confusing.

ti is the early morning of Sunday, may 18

Lan party

Did not go anywhere today, there was just no need to bother. Sat in the shop all day adjusting the prints for the exhibition, spoke to the son for a few minutes and then that was that. The son is having guests in today, the young men all sitting at a table staring into computer screens

More later maybe

And now it is eleven minutes past one in the earliest morning. Spent the evening in the artists studio considering his work and watching him work. He was well satisfied with the three large prints which will become the centrepiece of the exhibition. They will be hung tomorrow and a picture made for the invite and maybe a few pictures for the press. There are hopes that the exhibition will be a success.

It is late now and it is time for bed. There are another two prints being made, two smaller ones. The large epson machine runs steadily, it has turned out to be a relatively good purchase after all.

It is time for bed.

Now.

not many places to go to.

Yesterday evening was quite in order. A pleasant jazz evening at the overpriced Italian restaurant, dran two beers which cost as much as three elsewhere. The music was ghood and the company was pleasant.

Later until early at the artists studio discussing the prints to be made for the show. They need to be finished two weeks before the show in order to appear on the invitation.

The young postwoman puts a padded envelope into the mailbox. It contains a plastic push-pull switch. Spend an hour fitting the nearly-compatible component to the historic lamp that had been found in the rubbish tip. Somebody had cut of the plug as well. Replace the plug with one from the electrical junk box. Fit a bulb and try the switch. Fiat lux!

Go to the Thai place for a midday snack. The Tom Yam soup was good today. Then to the drugstore to buy another electrical light bulb, and then to the supermarket to do a bit of shopping.

And then home, and spend two hours making test prints and then making final prints of the small pieces. They are sixty one centimetres by one meter and forty eight in size, printing them takes a certain amount of time.

Go to the pub afterwards and have quiet pint. See the wife make her entrance and decide to leave after the quiet pint. That is the drawback with small towns, there are not many places to go to.

tomorrows news.

A large woman stepped up on the street and said" you are the director of the local secondary school". Denied this, it is not true. She then started to try and sell stones with pictures on them. They are supposed to imbue the carrier with power.

This is all rubbish, but remain polite.p

Earlier on there was a long telephone conversation with the owner of the photographic gallery. He is busily getting involved in the arrangement of the upcoming exhibition. It is hard to distinguish whether or not he just wants to be helpful. He may just have a vaguely interfering nature.

Went to the coffee shop and bought a small quantity of coffee beans. They will do to try out the espresso machine. With a few adjustments the machine seems to work quite sensibly.

Walked to the artist's studio and left the small pictures there for him to make further choices with. It is a very warm day outside.

In the afternoon a helicopter attempted a landing in the middle of the town. It did not seem to work out well, it flew away soon. There was some enormous activity in the neighbouring street with all emergency services. It will all be in tomorrows news.

bottle

Now it is almost twenty past eight in the evening. Last night was so late that the previous notes were posted in the early hours of the morning, there is no need to repeat such a stunt. It was easy to get up at six in the morning and to take the pills and to have a shower. Downstairs, do a bit of work and read the news. Everyone seems to be fighting for attention. Nobody seems able to solve the problems.

The day was quiet, there was much time spent assessing the needs for the printer and some time spent on the web trying to find  covers for the prints insofar as any are sold. That wasted much time.

Made a few prints to aid in visualising the output for the exhibition.

Take the old espresso machine from the kitchen where it had been rotting. Fix it  up, and work out how a certain things work, burning the fingers a bit in the process.

In town go to the drugstore to buy some decalcifying liquid. On the way  a beggar asks for a bottle of water. Buy one in the drugstore and give it to him after returning to the street.

priorities, yesterday

That was Monday, the twelfth of May, that died twenty minutes ago. The e day was spent sorting things and making prints.

The wife appeared and demanded her tax return, seriously happy that she got money back and still pays neither rent nor utility. Pay the money into her account, the paltry sum is worth ten minutes of peace and quiet.

The later evening is spent at the artists place, he makes plans for the upcoming exhibition. Agree, his ideas are generally good, let there be pleasure in being able to make satisfactory pictures.

He has good ideas, always; but sometimes he has different priorities.

Sunday, 11 May 2025

higher heeled

This morning everything is flooded with light. It seems to come in through every crack and to approach from every side. It is strange and it is pleasant too. The day has started off warm.

Get up and dress, make the bed, take the pills. That isa start to the day eight hours after yesterday ended in the early morning.

The light comes in from both sides. Get water to water the upstairs plants, and water the downstairs plants from the big black container in the yard. There are trees downstairs, in the narrow courtyard. They are straining towards the light above the high surrounding walls. Give them the water that did not come naturally for the last few days. Switch on the water pump to refill the container from the well.

Later, attach the smoke alarm that the son had acquired to the ceiling in the kitchen. Drill two holes and mount the small white device after connecting the battery. It emits a tiny red flash of light every once in a while to demonstrate its functionality.

It is peaceful downstairs in the deserted shop.

Now there is the sound of the angry footsteps of the wife, stamping down the stairs ands long the corridor. There is the sound of a plug being demonstratively pulled from the electrical socket on the wall and then dropped to the floor.

The sound of the water splashing into the black container had disturbed her sleep.

It was  eleven in the morning when that happened and it is eleven seventeen now. Upstairs there is the sound of the demonstrative tramping of somebody used to wearing higher heeled shoes.

Saturday, 10 May 2025

after all

The last thing before midnight, just returned from the artists studio, write a few notes in this blog, not knowing who, if anybody at all, is going to read this. As always, awakening still lazy from the night, go downstairs. See the prints made yesterday and realise that there is work to be done yet. Make a small breakfast with eggs and toast and coffee. That is nice. The day promises to be warm and pleasant, that is nice too. At nine there is a short text from the photographic gallery owner where he explains that he is ill with sinusitis and that the only way that the decision to make the exhibition can be done via a zoom conversation on his wife's mobile 'phone.

Redo the prints and have a pleasant conversation with the son about many things, he is such pleasant company.

The prints are much better now.

Take the lot down to the gallery, and speak to the owner remotely and to his wife directly. Before the negotiations there was a short conversation with a property owner in the outside area of the local Italian restaurant.

The matters are all agreed upon and the suggestions for the hanging of the exhibits accepted.

Go home, and have an afternoon nap.

In the evening go to the artist's studio and discuss the exhibition.

After all what is being exhibited are photos of his work.

accounts of yesterday

It is the earliest morning of the tenth and these are the recollections of the ninth. Visited the studio belonging to the artist and immediately the landlords wife comes to collect the chairs loaned a couple of weeks ago for the party. Help her carry the chairs out, all in order to get rid of her sooner. The fish are in their tank, they look moderately hopeful of food, but that is the artist's business only. They are his fish.

Look at the poster with all the pictures on it. They are not bad, now that there is a certain distance to them. Whilst the work is in progress there are always things that could be done better. It is only afterwards that it can be established that enough things were done well. Buy some trivial groceries afterwards, and do not forget to get the cat food. Ten tins should last for a while.

Spend most of the afternoon cleaning the floor using a large electric scrubber. A great deal of dirt comes away from the floor, as it dries the boards turn very much lighter.

In the later evening start to make test prints. They are generally in order, they just seem a little bit to dark

And now it is the early morning and there is no need for any more accounts of yesterday.

Thursday, 8 May 2025

disjointed day

The day was cool. It was below temperate. It was intemperate.

Go to the medical insurance people to claim the costs of the eye examination. They say that this is not a thing that is covered.  Go to the optician who did the test and sent it on to be evaluated. Get quite angry about it really.

They offer a cut price on the next pair of glasses. That is satisfactory.

Spent time in the shop making coffee. And then just got fed up and went to the building store and bought electrical conduit pipe. Nothing is really working as it should.

Scrub half of the floor in the shop using a big rotary scrubber. It looks cleaner afterwards, but it is not really clean. But every little bit helps.

There is not much to be done otherwise. Not much to do that can be done.

Have a cup of coffee and a cake in one of the local cafés, this is hardly worth it either. A short walk about town and then home.

At eight the cat starts to howl in front of the door. It wants to be fed.

The upstairs kitchen is an utter mess.

This is somebody else's job.

The floor is nearly dry by ten in the evening, and looks cleaner.

Wednesday, 7 May 2025

three hundred and fifty seven

Took the car to the recommended turner who should be able to fix the camera part. After a long search in the industrial area of town found the small repair place. They were able to help, the part was turned to fit relatively quickly and neatly. It was a tiny part on such a large machine, but the job was done. Gave the man a tip, perhaps too little, maybe more would have been in order.

Return home and then leave again. Collect the new reading glasses. They have been specially corrected for use with a monitor, so that a hunched up pose whilst working is not necessary.

Visit an exhibition of three hundred ands sixty five hand drawn postcards. They are very nice, but the background music was awful. It was in a chapel, and the echos seemed to amplify the distortions of the tiny speakers attached to the monitor showing the artist at work.

Go home again and start to print the three hundred and fifty seven pictures of the tiny figures. After several failed starts, find a method that works.

Then go out to the pub for a quick drink. Meet the Argentine there and listen to his whispered conversations for a short while.

Return home, and look at the wall poster of the three hundred and fifty seven pictures made of the one hundred small figures.

Tuesday, 6 May 2025

nearly forgotten

It is the sixth, and before the day decays take the car on short trip to an artist suppliers. There are black boxes to be bought. There and back imvolves almost the whole afternoon. Their coffee is as bad as it is expensive.

Buy the black boxes, an artists portfolio folder, and a few sheets of cardboard. It isn't much but the boxea and the portfolio are unavailable elswhhere.

Return home and find the cat howling out its demands to be fed. It is really noisy.

This morning a short message to the son resulted in a telephhonic response.

To stop the twittering noises that one of his devices was making it was necessary to temove two plugs from the rear of the machine. It squeaked laudly and thenshit up.The son confirmed that this was in order.

That was a mornings excitement, nearly forgotten.

Monday, 5 May 2025

not entirely convincing

Start the day working in the shop trying to finish the pictures of the statuettes. Make progress until the postman comes and brings the part for the camera. Examine the part carefully and fit it to the camera plate. It becomes clear that the previous mechanic had set the tolerances too tightly and not allowed the crown gears any tolerances. That may actually be the reason why the last set broke. Or else it was simply old age.

Shopping today, bought a small cast iron frying pan out of curiosity as to how things would fry in such a thing. It was not expensive. At the supermarket buy a few small things and then go home again.

Wash the frying pan and realise that it smells strongly of metal and oil. Wash it some more and then heat it up and put in some cooking oil. Wait until the oil is very hot and then let the whole lot cool. Wipe away the oil and throw the paper towels away. The smell is still not entirely convincing.

Return to the process of all the pictures. There are many. It will take many hours.

The pictures of the concert yesterday are well received.

Sunday, 4 May 2025

calculate

After last nights out the awakening this morning was shaky, it was not so pleasant. But a shower, a hot coffee and toast solved that soon enough. Double check the equipment and realise that one of the reserve batteries is drained. There is no time to load it, so for the first time ever, use the car adapter to load a battery. On the way to the venue, the light happily blinks away, signifying that it is taking and storing electricity from the system. The car is not bothered by this.

The venue is the social part of the town hall, and the band is group of mainly amateur musicians. They are playing a program of jazz and swing standards, it all goes down well with the rural population.

It is not easy taking pictures of people on the stage during a live performance. Movement and positioning is limited.

But never mind, they paid, and hopefully they will be happy.

Drive home, and start to feel colder than the weather warrants. It is not hot, but still there should not be this shivering miserable cold. At home edit the pictures, and lie down under the blankets of the bed. They do not really warm either.

There is a message on the phone, the evening in the cinema is cancelled.

Downstairs, the upload for the band pictures is not working properly,

Go out and have some turkish fast food at the local street vendor.

Then go to the pub, and have a beer and read the newspapers. Halfway through the beer there is a phone call. It is the proprietor of the gallery.

He wants to display the pictures of the little figures.

What a surprise.

When all is done have a second glass.

just to celebrate.

Go home and start to calculate the necessary sizes.

Saturday, 3 May 2025

unlucky

Most of the day spent caring for the shop again, moving furniture and carrying things around The floor in the side room seems finished now, and the door to the cupboard needs fitting. Think about it for a while and get a box of small screws from the attic. With the help of the small Ikea electrical screwdriver it does not take long. Fitting the panel that had broken out of the side of the cupboard did not take long either, and would have taken much less time had it been fitted the right way round at the first attempt. So take it out again and put it back in again the correct way round.

Use the scouring machine on a test piece of the large floor. It seems to work quite well, but time will show. It will be necessary for it to dry before the assessment is complete.

At around midday time was spent with the people from the photographic gallery around the corner. It was a mixture of talking shop and politics. It was all quite pleasant.

There is the sound of the wife practicing the clarinet upstairs. She seems to have improved greatly, that is all to the good.

Outside people walk down the street to go to the fair taking place down by the river. People are all looking for parking spots without any success. This is sad, but this is the way it is.

Warn a few people of the danger of being fined, but then just do not bother. There is a sign at the beginning of the street that quite clearly declares it a no parking zone, and if they do not believe it they will have to pay if they are unlucky.

pullover indoors

Today was a day just restful. It was hot outside and it is cold indoors. Just did odd jobs and went shopping.

The rest is just misery, it is not going any where at all.

Forgot to take the pills until the evening. Hopefully this will not prove fatal or something. There is just a sense of constant unpleasant pressure.

Saw the artist and his friend driving somewhere in their car, but they did not react to a wave. They both looked worried. This was explained later, they were both on their way to have their lungs examined in the hospital.

They were worried.

Go home again, but somehow nothing works. Boil a large plate of potatoes, this at least satisfied the hunger a bit. The shop is very cold, the walls retain the cold . It is strange that way, even though it is hot outside it is necessary to wear a pullover indoors.

Thursday, 1 May 2025

rest for an hour and a half.

up early today, everything was surprisingly organised. Breakfast was made despite there only being one hot plate. The coffee did not cool down so quickly, so that it was possible to make a few  poached eggs. The toast was made in the toaster, where else?

On the way to the railway station stop and talk to the artist who lives on the corner. The chat was easy because there was no hurry. There was so little hurry that there were still twenty minutes to spare before the bus was due to arrive.

Walk to the railway station, this is good for the circulation and keeps the body warm on this still chilly morning of what promises to be a hot first of May. Arrive at the railway station in good time, buy a roll and a cup of coffee in the station kiosk.

The train to Munich is uneventful and quite pleasant. Take the bus to the University and arrive in good time for the rendezvous.

The mother and daughter arrive, the mother is an old girlfriend and lover and the daughter is young and pretty. They are both culturally very informed, and during the half an hour waiting for the ice cream parlour to open, have a long chat. There are a number of things to gossip about and it is all very pleasant.

All three walk down to the English Garden, Munichs big park. Find a free park bench and continue talking. Afterwards, watch a small child spray water on the road, and explain that he is washing it.

Have a cup of coffee in a café and then proceed on to the railway station. Say our goodbyes there and then take the train back to Landshut. One goes to Ludwigsburg, one goes to Berlin. That is it.

Return to Landshut and meet the son. He is running a stand with friends of his, all the rainbow colours that they support so keenly. Have a turkish meal at a neighbouring stand, then go home.

Finish off the day by using the big polishing machine to polish the floor that had been waxed at the beginning of the week.

Then take a rest in bed for an hour and a half.
