Wake and shower.. It is dark. The summer light is probably gone until next year. Dry and dress, cannot find the glasses. Search.
Use the other ones.
The street is damp, it starting to rain..
The church entrance is lit, and in that light looks sinister, and shadowy, with all these saints showing their symbol-fraught expressions on their stone faces.
grimms shop opposite its sign in roman Capital Type,,. The English meaning of the white backlit letters on a rough-plastered grey wall springs to mind:
The days driver has his rubber glove on today, he is the rubber glove man. He drives the bus to the station and there is the pigtailed smoker.
Guten Morgen.
The cafe is the name as always, as everyday. Were it different, it would be a shock.
The service is different, service nervous. Too many people getting in each others way. telling each other what to do. Hedgy is there, chatting to the brown-dyed black-coated woman. None of the others are there today.
The coffee tastes strange today and the pretzel tis soggy. Nobody ever said that people do not make a difference, but much of a difference?
The way to the platform is interspersed with puddles of water... Otherwise dry. It is as if water had been spilt there, but it is most likely to be rain leaking through the old concrete from the tracks above.
With ten minutes delay the train rolls in. Apologies on the loudspeakers. On the way to Moosturg there are stoppages, and the damp occluded morning has time to unfold over the miserably washed landscape. At six twenty five the train finally reaches Mossburg, later than it should be.
The train permits this account to be written, it would be impossible to write in a car. Dictation might- be a solution....
Sleepers are what the wheels roll on, and sleepers inhabit the railway carriage.
