awake in the warm bed, grey light from the window, it is the morning the day before the annual journey to Ireland.
Exhaustion from the past week's strain.
Tiredness was there last night, early to bed.
Late to rise.
Get up, make a cup of coffee, a slice of toast.
Toasters produce strong local air pollution, so it was written in that New Yorker article.
Never mind.
The cat has buried it's face in a small plastic bucket half filled with dry cat food.
There are muffled chewing noises.
The coffee machine is hot now, take the coffee grounds from the grinder and put them into the silver sieve of the machine.
A small cup with a golden rim from the cupboard in the hall.
And there is coffee
Take the cup to the table in the sitting room.
The place is in a total mess.
The wife and the son do not clear up their things behind them.
they prefer to leave them lying about.
diaster.
Stay quiet, why bother.
drink coffee
The son comes out of his bedroom.
sits down on a chair
the cat on his knees.
Mention the mess.
He gets up
Returns to his room.
So what.
