Half way up the stairs, the first landing. The
wide staircase into the grand hall, the main
entrance at the end. The big stairs are central
to the hallway, a great window at the top of the
stairs. From the first landing, seperate stairs
go up the right hand and the left hand side of
the stairwell, the hallway rises to the full height of the building.
The view from the sofa down into the hall
is grand, with the chairs and sofa and the
big mantelpiece in marble at the fire. There
are works of art from the previous century, it
is all very grand. The sl to writers,
visitors who had come up the hill from
Dublin, via Rathfarnham and Balyboden.
It is a grand house, a big house built before the last century, all very fine. A huge leather sofa, this may have been there for a long time.
