on the return to the bedroom make a cup of coffee in the kitchen. Return to the bedroom, place the cup beside the little laptop computer and read the news. The illiterate in chief has been told off again. Corona infections in Germany are worse than ever. The cat wants to be petted.
Then, without any warning, the legs feel cold and the eyes grow heavy. This is not an effect of coffee, that would be much too paradoxical to be true. It is just a sudden attack of sleepiness.
Turn the light out and get back into bed, feel the welcome warmth of the duvet on the legs.
And then it is light and bright, the wife is up and about, the cat is on the window ledge over the radiator and opens a lazy right eye to look. Raise the arm, look at the watch. It is half past ten. Four hours later, and the bed is still warm and comfortable.
What is to be done but to get up, make another cup of coffee and see what needs to be done today.
