fowl

It is hard to let go, get up early despite there being no real reason to do so. Make a cup of coffee, as is done almost every day.

And then just drift about the flat, unclear of what needs to be done next. Being retired is not so easy. Not needing to go to work is difficult too.

This will take a while, and then it will become normality.

Walk through the town, and up the old hill road that goes up to  the castle. It is steep, and it becomes narrow as it leaves town behind. Leave the road and take a small footpath through one of those high class residential areas. There is an old wooden house which has been carefully repaired, there is more new wood on the side facing the prevailing weather. It is a piebald house for now.

The little path ends up just by the car park next to the playground. Cross the car park and walk through the playground to the little zoo. Find a free park bench, sit and listen to the cocks and the hens in the bushes here. Feeding the animals has been forbidden, because of the danger of attracting wild birds and rats. People are not just scared of the pandemic, they are frightened of bird diseases too.
