complaining

It is becoming hard to bear. Awake feeling good and awake, and then hardly having dressed and eaten

collapse

Remain downstairs in the emergency bed newly installed there. That is all quite fine. Sleeping is strange, constantly unwell and then sleeping again.

The wife radio sounds booming german voices through the ceiling from what is now her bedroom upstairs.

It is midday.Struggle, then make the emergency bed, put on a pair of plastic shoes and make a cup of espresso.

Read the news some more.

Later, sitting on the stoop in front of the shop see a man approaching pointing a camera. It is the photographer from Munich.

He has arrived with two friends.

Chat, and then take the surprise visitors on a short personal visit to the gallery. Use the key that the gallery owner provided.

The three visitors duly admire the pictures. Then they hury off to their next station, to the next place on their stressful Sunday.

Return home, make some more coffee. Listen to the people passing on the street outside.

Why do so many people sound as if they are complaining, even in normal speech?
