day four, year two week six

28 August 2014
A feeling of wakefulness all night. There must have been sleep. Sleep is only felt as a lack of tiredness. Turn off the sounding clock to shower and slave. gather the parts that are needed for the day, another day at work. go down the road. There is a headache and a cold, in the middle of summer. Crutch man at the bus stop...., Let him on the bus first, he is in a hurry to set down...
Say 'magen to the bus driver..., and  allow the short journey to turn into a blurred image, indistinct against the stack of similar images from the last years.
There is no smoker at the station, and the young women at yorma's cafe are friendly and neat as always. Cap the paper coffee mug,-say mowgen to the 'Hedgehog. Friendly Hedgehog, all on his own today, chatting with Anastasia as she works with her usual diligence. Suddenly she breaks out in peals of laughter, slowing here incredibly white teeth.
Then it is is passed into the past, the Hedgehog gone and she commences slicing tomatoes with a machine just like an oversize eggs slicer, with blades instead of wires...
- On the train, driving through the fog, there is almost complete silence, but for the friendly greetings from the ticket collectors.
They panic in a group of three today, looking at every ticket most carefully. Satisfied? They move on.
'Moos burg, next station Maesbury, please leave on the right hand side. There are not many boarding, and the train waits,
And waits.
Perhaps for ten- imnntes-Track maintenance ahead.
'It was not necessary to work today. The cold should be given a chance to clear. "Tinnitus, with its gas-jet hiss in the right ear. Hissy tiny tinnitus'. Silly hissy hissy tin it ussy...
an announcement from the speakers on the platform informs all who want to hear that the tracks are being repaired, and that there will be delays until the 29th of the month.
Waiting in M oosburg. That could be a name for a book. Or a short play.
The Train moves, slowly pulling out of the station. The doors close, lock, and the train pulls out. No warning, theotherwise so voluble railway personnel are silent.

The fog is heavier, the fields to either side are a green stripe fading into alight grey. A vaporous day!
