At the bus stop say good morning to Dolores and wait. All of the cars that normally speed past are driving very slowly today, a snowplough with a salt spreader in their midst.
The bus arrives, pay the driver. The bus is full, find a seat beside the door, sit, wait. Keep the eyes down to avoid eye contact with the other passengers.

the cafe is deserted today, the friendly, baldheaded has a large coffee ready almost before it is paid for. He stamps the discount card. & here is a group of orange clad street sweepers, or salt spreaders, in the station waiting room on a break. They have all been called an emergency service because of the street icing. And the television a man is showing pictures of volcanoes. Just before leaving the cafe, see that a picture of Trump is on the screen. Apparently the headline says that he has been involved in sexual misconduct. Well now. why should he have an easier time than other, more capable men? the
Leave for the tracks, use the subterranean passage, the granite stairs. The train is ahead in, find a seat. The floor in the passenger carriage is sodden with melted ice and grit from all of the previous passengers shoes. The seat has a small table, covered in imitation wood laminate.
