today is to be a day away from work, a day spent removing the rubble, the old bricks, the remainders of plaster from the house.
It has all been stored in black containers, it needs to be removed. There will be a large skip placed on the street in front of the house......
get up, the alarm sounds at the usual time
Five. In the dark morning.
Leave the thoughts of skips and things
Bathroom, bathroom and wash.
Return to the kitchen, still in night clothes
put on the coffee
return to the bedroom
Day clothes
let out
the cat

Look out of the window-
get the computer, read and write,
The car parked on the space is white.
It will hopefully be gone in an hour,
if not then there is no help for it.
The man delivering the skip will put it somewhere else.

Go downstairs, the air is fresh and clean
A cyclist passes.
The lone car in the whole street is parked in front of the gate
at exactly the spot where the skip was to be placed.

There will be no trains or elderly ladies at bus stops, men smoking in front of railway stations, or stressed service at the station bar today.
