the sound of the alarm, at five, at six thirty and at seven. The last two are normally not heard at all, dute to work. Today, just stay in bed, recover from the unusual hard work yesterday, digging the rubble from th old cellar and transporting this out of the building to the yellow skip.
Look at the computer, it is demanding attention, showing things of interest, or less interest, or no interest. But demanding attention. Unbelievable claims, advertising, all of these listings. The wife has gone back to bed after seeing the son out to school.
A day free of work, listen to the clocks and the cat.
So leave the house, leave the home, head for the more comfortable distraction of a small café. On the way, see the streets almost bare of young people, only older people, pensioners today. Well, not only, but mainly. Order a coffee and a pretzel in the Bachmeir cafe on the main street, take this to one of the tiny tables crushed against the wall, and start to write these notes The pretzel, or Bretzen, is excellent, fresh and with a pleasant degree of crispness. The salt and butter mingle with the taste of the coffee. Even simple things can be excellent.Go back home, the blue house with the yellow skip in front of it, and go upstairs.
Empty the washing machine, and take the clothes, all wet, up to the attic to hang them upon the lines-That done, take the pen, the book and the bag, then go to the car, parked in a spot opposite the police station that will no longer be available after Thursday. Because of road works. ⇐
Steer the car to the building suppliers, through the scant traffic of a residential town on a weekday. All the weekend traffic is now parked at places of work, resting there all day, until evening, when the streets will be chock-a-bloc. Find a spot in front of the building suppliers, go in, find the needed of plastic covering.
And go to the cafe there, to finish these notes with, a cup of coffee.
Watch a man loading a wood splitting machine onto a trailer hitched to a green car. This takes him nearly an hour. He
obviously does not do this very often. And now, finished, he gets into his green Lada, and drives off. A man on his way to split some logs.
