There is a steady sound of rain from the open window, rain on the hop plants in the back yard. It is dark, on account of the clouds, Go to the bathroom, then brush the teeth. Return to find the alarm making it's noises, it is later than imagined.
The shower taken check the bag, and that is it.
Leave the house, into the light rain. Put up the blue umbrella, walk through the wet streets, the glistening cobbles underfoot. Pass the big philatelist's shop, now specialised in coins. Nobody collects stamps now any more, everyone just looks at their phone.
The flood barriers have been set up at the river, they are expecting more floods, as had been forecast.
At the bus stop, watch as the teachermann gets up a roadsign blown over during the night. He sees it as his duty. Perhaps he is a city employee after all.. Then he is not a teacher, but a town official. The municipal man, now.
The bus arrives, pay the driver, and sit down in the near-empty carriage.
At the railway station there is a gathering in front of the station announcements board. It appears as if there has been a change-of timetable, as if there have been cancellations.
There is an announcement that some vital part of the signals system has been struck by lightning, hence the confusion.
The man serving coffee has it ready without a word, but then he says'-Morgen'. "Good morning to you too". The train is in, much more or less on time and there are many people complainin at all the changes in the timetable. Outside, the rain has stopped, the clouds have lifted. The train will only go as far as Freising, after that, who knows, exactly?
