Up, turn off the sound from the pad, taking care to touch the button marked 'off' and not the one marked "snooze" And into the bathroom, let the shower run until it is warm. Wash the body, shave, dry, all these things in twelve minutes, return to the bedroom and find the clothing put out the night before. and at twenty-fare past five, stand in front of the minor, check everything, put some cream on the nose.
The wife is up early, she goes by, unsteady with sleep, no word at such an hour.
Walk through the town, there is a sharp wind in the Theater street. And a few drops of rain too. The bus stop is deserted, there are not even ducks there today. Count the small change for the bus fare, the fare is one Euro and Twenty cents, the nearest available is two Euros twenty cents.
Sit down, put the one Euro change into the coin part of the wallet. That is all there is to do untill the bus sways around the sharp bends leading to the railway station's bus station.
The station is quiet today, the Balkan building workers are still away on Christmas and New Year holidays.. The woman with the black mole on her chin, under her lips, is serving today. "Guten Morgen, einen großen Kaffee bitte". A grunt in reply, a stamp on the discount card, and that is all. The next customer served, then the coffee placed on the counter that is all, that is it. Go to the waiting room, collecting a lid on the way.
The fidgety man is there, a few men wearing workers winter jackets too. One is huddled over his table, only the eyes showing below his woolly hat and above his scarf.. It is as if he has been out all night and is warming up in the café. Maybe it is so. The fidgety man gives an angry lock, he does not like people sitting at the place he usually sits.
"Well, you can't have it all your way, go end fidget in the corner, get a second cup of coffee in your special cup." An angry glance is a bad way to start the day, and upon thought- it is not a good start to the year either.
