There is a flock of twenty ducks on the grass, on the lawn, of the tiny park between the bus stop and the river. There are two men standing on the path, watching them. Perhaps the ducks have just been fed.
Wish the man with the bog cotton hair a good morning, and Dolores too, on her usual 'place on the bench in the bus shelter. Why are there so many ducks today?
Tell out the money from the wallet. There is enough change for the exact bus fare, and as the bus arrives, watch the three figures pass, and one by one pay, they pay the driver. Pay the driver as the last one, the one at the end of the queue-.
Find a seat just after the function in the bus. It is one of those bases with a concertina- like bellows joining the front part and the rear. It is a three-achsle bus. The floor in this junction is a circular metal plate, which turns as the bus turns. The result of this construction method is a very long bus, with a long cabin.
Watch the turning plate rotate on the short journey to the railway station. There, the smoker is just leaving his square, the yellow square painted on the ground. He climbs up the stairs to the automatic doors, he seems older when viewed from the near.
Go into the café, the young women with the black hair and the freindly smile looks up a says"Grosse?". She means the coffee, that coffee always bought in the morning. Say yes, hand over the banknote and the card to be stamped. Today is the second stamp on that card, there will be another eight days until it is worth a free cup of coffee.
In the waiting room, pick a seat with one of the small rotating stools on a metal pedestal, facing the counter, the counter that has a high glass barrier before it. The is the place where the sandwiches are prepared.
Get up ten minutes later, at six. Out on the platform, a small diesel train is just coming in. On it's illuminated destination board are the words 'Simbach am Inn' , a small town, not so far away. Go down the stairs, walk atong the white-tiled corridor as far as the stairwell for platform number six. The granite steps are too high to be really comfortable, the knees are sore.
The train to Munich comes into the platform, slowly, opens the doors, slowly, and the people pour out in a tearing hurry.
