doldrums

The cat sits on a cardboard box on the sill of the right hand window of the living room. She looks out of the window, and makes small groaning noises, comments on the situation outside the window maybe, maybe she is just dreaming to herself.
The son is in his room, simultaneously tidying things up, learning Latin vocabulary and cleaning up his room all simultaneously.
Not efficient, but at least something moves.

And his father is sitting there at the table with his laptop.
How degenerate, how uncultivated.

Reading about American plutocracy, one of the most powerful countries in the world being turned into a private business. And the parts of the United Kingdom behaving like the universe at large with respect to the European Union. Constant expansion, and the distance between all the parts constantly increasing.
How strange.

It is Saturday, the day off work.
And now the son is making a cup of coffee for the wife.
