 The sound of rain is pleasant, the rain itself is cold and wet. Coffee is welcome in the morning, as is the first food of the day. 

The news on the machine is sad and bad. America has another storm to contend with, Cuba is soaked. And the Russians are trying to legalise robbery, using democracy to enforce autocracy.

And sleep was deep and sound in the night, and that is something of great personal worth, an invaluable asset.

At five past ten the rain has stopped.
