cold

It is now a quarter to three in the afternoon, and it is really quite cold outside. The work yesterday in the artists studio was finished today and it seems to have been absolutely worth while to make the second attempt. It is always important to record what has been seen, and not to attempt to construct things afterwards. The walk over to the studio with the soft box light in hand attracted a few glances, but the hordes of amateur photographers remained out of sight. It is never good to have a whole crowd of well informed people telling you what you need to do. But that was yesterday, the work on the pictures took place today, and the largest problem was the subtlety of the colours, they are hard to reproduce.

The results on the screen are but a rough indication of what the things look like when printed. The ease with which spectacular effects can be made in a digital environment simply lead to gaudy and unusable results when the work is printed.

The morning is just bitterly cold. It is unpleasant to go out. And to stay at home is tiring. Now that the work is done, some exercise would be a good idea.
