Sleep ended at three in the morning, and did not return until six. Just refuse to get out of bed, there is nothing to be done. Really, nothing at all to do.
Make a slice of toast and a cup of coffee. Make up the bed, then listen to the radio. Read a bit, and have a shower.
Clear the snow away from the pathway outside the house. and put down a trowel full of salt to prevent any icing. There is no need for any liability for strangers slipping on an icy surface on the second day of the year.
Let in the cat, she is making noises outside the door. She gives a short growl upon admission, perhaps this is her way of saying thank you. She then wanders over to the corner where her plate is resting upon a plastic tray. Oblige the animal by placing a spoonful of cat food on the plate.
The cat eats the cat food.
There is a knock on the door, the son comes in he talks and asks if he may invite his father out for a coffee. The snow outside has stopped. Walk to the café and have a talk with him. Leave as a young mother with three children enters, for they need all of the spaces in the tiny café. They are three little girls.
Walk to the supermarket with the son, buy things that are unnecessary and forget those that are needed. Return home, and listen to the son give more account of his studies and his life in Bayreuth.
