Heilige Drei Könige is the German name for the festival of the epiphany, and that is today. Today is yet another holiday in Bavaria. The small town is silent this morning, no shops are open for people to go to, and there do not appear to be many going to church at this early hour.
Read the news. It is becoming obvious now that the greed of large countries will not leave any peace in the world. The savage killing of eighty Venezuelan soldiers, now hardly mentioned, shows the ruthlessness of these countries manner of proceeding. It is strange how suddenly those that used to be an example to civilisation turn into vicious bullies with casual disregard for human life.
The silence out of doors, outside the shop, is almost oppressive. It is just a Bavarian holiday.
Last evening in the studio proceeded well. The white box is now painted with concrete, it now looks massive, heavy and grey. It was also possible to help the artist in repositioning the statue to enable the attachment of the right arm. The figure is from some science fiction story, it is a commission from a local enterprise.
Now it is twenty to nine, the day is beginning slowly and steadily. There is time to take a short walk. A crow is cawing over the roofs outside.
