Those bells again, four bells, then five.
The hour is five.
Then another church, to be heard clearly through the open window
Four bells only.
The hour has struck.
Sit up on the bed, open the tablet. It is just starting to sound out it's wake up tune. Silence it.
Get up, go to the bathroom. Ignore the cat for the moment. Turn on the water, so that the warm water may flow down from the tank in the attic. And the warm shower wakens the tired body.
The cat is outside the bathroom, waiting. It wants food, and is prepared to let itself be stroked in order to get it.
Stroke the cat, let it purr.
Then get dressed.
Then feed the cat.
and finally, after checking everything and seeing that nothing is forgotten, leave the house.
Friday, two bells from the church at the end of the alley. Five thirty.
