Awake, early.
Birds sing outside in the darkness of early dawn.
Nature calling.
Nature calls.
Roll to one side on the bed, pull the knees up to the chest so that the knees are over the side of the bed.
Right hand to the bed, push vertical.
Kick the bedside cabinet so that it rolls over the floor, away from the bed.
There is a stand beside the bed, holding up a pouch with medicine, a drip. "Non iV, Ropi" written thereon in big letters on a bright red background. The stand also holds a dosing apparatus, it's display showing "008,0 ml/h".
Reach over, unplug the power lead on the apparatus.
Get up, roll the stand across the floor, to the little bathroom, panic mounting with the pressure. The light switch is to the left of the door, the left hand does not work.
Turn the back to the door, operate the switch. Turn back, now the drip tube is wrapped around the stand. Take care, do not rip the tube out from under the plastic plaster attaching it to the chest.
The fluorescent light has a delay, stand there in the dark, wait.
Then, with an audible short noise, the light comes on. There is the porcelain bowl, white and clean.
Release.
Relief.
Return to the bed.
Reconnect the drip.
It is brighter now.
Return to sleep.
