Something

A hug in the park, and that is the end of an afternoon spent with a woman last seen with her three year old daughter.

She tells stories of her daughter, who is now married and lives in Tel Aviv and is nearly thirty.

Amberg is a small town with a rococo church so beautifully restored it feels like it is new. All  the golden decorations on the church walls, the fat little gilded angels. The people are friendly, say hello on the street. For the sake of old friendship, wear a suit and a new shirt and a tie, and realise that it all went down well when there was not a comment. It was strange to be so formally dressed, but it was pleasant to sit in the cafe and the onlookers wondering.

Nobody wears a suit nowadays, unless they are getting married or something.

Something is not a pleasant option.
