Pack the bag carefully, the big bag with the long lenses and the small camera fits into the rucksack with plenty of space to spare. Close the rucksack, remember to pack the batteries too, and head out to test this enormous lens. The idea is to take pictures of birds in the distance on the lake. With normal lenses there was no way to get close enough.
Take the path through the town and along by the river. It being Sunday and a sunny windy and cold day, there are many peope about. After an hour's walk arrive at the lake. Sadly, there are no cormorants about today, just seagulls and swans. And of course, coots and ducks.e
Unpack and assemble the lens and attach the camera to it. Out of habit, open the flap to check for the data card.
There is none.
There are three spare batteries in the bag and no data card.
Walk back home, thinking about the pictures of swans that will never be made.
