The 'phone makes an alarm sound. It is a reminder to take the three pills, two for the blood pressure and one tablet that contains iron in some form. The iron is supposed to support the blood's ability to store oxygen, to increase the number of red blood cells. This is what was explained.
Take the pills and wash them down with a glass of water. The rosemary bush seems to be surviving on the spot on the window sill, it's small branches projecting left and right like a Jewish candle holder. The cat is sitting beside it, purring, enjoying the warmth from the radiator underneath the window. Touch the soil in the pot to see whether it is damp or not and pat the cat. The soil is damp and the cat approves of the touch.
Two eggs and two slices of toast for breakfast with a big strong cup of coffee. And all alone in the big untidy sitting room, now almost completely taken over by the items scattered by the wife and the son. This is the only time to feel at home here.
The day outside is clear and sunny, it is Thursday morning, a name for a day that marks the nearing completion of this week and any other week.
The second pot of coffee makes grumbling noises.
It is ready for Thursday.
