298 kilometres an hour.

The alarm so kindly set by the voice on the smartphone last night played a melody punctually at four in the morning. Remembering to take the lead connecting the smartphone and to put it in the bag finish all the packing done the night before. Go to the toilet, dress, and make the bed.

Locking the door upon leaving go downstairs. At half past four in the morning the streets of Landshut are still noisy from the Saturday night fever.

Half way to the railway station there is a bar still open, and there are customers outside. One man is standing with a fixed stare in the middle of the footpath. Wish him a good morning and walk around him. He is unconscious.

At the railway station there are several people who are on their way home after a night out. They are tired looking, the women are heavily made up, they are lightly dressed.

The train is punctual, it is the same train that used to go to work in the University. Some things never change.

After one hour arrive at Munich and change for the Berlin express. The reserved seat is in a dingy corner with no window. Wait until the train is under way, and then change for one of those seats which has not been taken despite having a reserved notice upon it. This seat is much better, with a window to watch the landscape fly by. As the train is travelling at two hundred and ninety eight kilometres per hour start to write this blog. Imagine the long space that the train has travelled at each impact upon the keyboard. This post would be many kilometres long and very difficult to read.
