the cat comes into the room, a single bound and onto the chair and a second bound onto the window sill. Looks out of the window, turns, the flexible back a horizontal arch, sits, the front paws side by side facing outward.
Just like the Pink Panther.

Sit down.
Put her onto the knees.

Flop.
Lies down.
curls up.
Purrs.

Scratch her head.

Hear the tinnitus, the throat is itching and the head is heavy, slightly dizzy, the eyes unfocused.
But the cat knows nothing of this.

The rest of the family sleeps.

Continue to pet her, the fur feels good on the hands.
