the doorbell rings, it is eight in the morning, go downstairs, open the door. The neighbour and his builder of choice are outside the door, they were expected.
They are there to survey the crack in the wall of the neighbours house, a crack only visible from the back yard.
So let them in.
They both look.
The builder makes suggestions for closing the crack.
Listen.
Amazing.
Surely that will never work.
But keep quiet, perhaps it is just that the neighbour wants to save money and is looking for a cheap jop. The two men look at the crack, tell them about the attempts made by the neighbours tenant last year to block the crack in the wall with plaster and building foam.
It cracked again.
So let them be, let them go.
It will cause trouble in the summer with coming and going.
They pass the sons cars, make comments about it.
See them out.
This will just be trouble, down the line.
