Leave work at eleven thirty in the morning today, a short day. Later on. a person is due to show up at home and to take a blood sample and a mouth swab, to help a study of the corona virus. There will be no news returned, that seems important for the study. They say that they will inform if any of the tests are positive.
Drive the big car steadily and slowly all the way down the Autobahn, there are not so many cars there at this time and it is important to be careful of those passing at higher speeds.
It is pleasant to arrive back home during the daylight, and it is easy to find a parking spot.
Arrive home and the wife looks as if she has seen a ghost. It is far too early to be home on a Monday. Explain the business with the testing people. She looks vaguely surprised now. Shortly afterwards, the son comes home from school, and he looks surprised too. Really, a day of surprises.
The woman from the testing company arrives, all dressed up in plastic protection gear.
A swab in the mouth, then packed into a test tube.
Three attempts to draw blood, three failures. The veins have retracted, or have started to roll around the plase. After the third attempt she gives up. She says that there are thousands of others taking part in the study, so that one less will not matter.
Now there is one less, and that is that.
Go back upstairs and make a telephone call to the man who took the small black car, to ask him for the number plates. They might be important.
