short

Peacocks retire into treetops to roost at night, and in the morning at eight they had not yet  descended. The one big bird is spreading his feathers in the bare treetop, more a matter of maintenance and preening than of display.

Every now and then, one of the two throws back his head and calls. An incredibly lout call.

Wait, maybe they will fly down, that would be a rare snapshot, a peacock in flight.

But the birds just stay up there, preening and calling.

And that is the highlight of today's walk in the park.
