The Rhea birds (Rhea americana (Linnaeus, 1758) ) have been moved into the smaller enclosure along with the goats. It is easier to take their pictures here. One of them is making a deep trumpeting noise, perhaps this is facilitated by their long necks. There is one new bird there, he is more aggressive than the others, perhaps it is a male of the species.
Walk past the children's clinic again, and onward past the brewery and up the steps to the Moniberg. Watch the fog slowly fade away from the town as the sun reaches into the valley. The church spire is the most clearly visible part, sticking out of the fog and illuminated orange by the sun.
It is a cold morning, there is hoar frost everywhere, all the trees are white with it. It is so much more beautiful than all the Christmas finery that the people in town decorate their houses with. On the return to Landshut, just before the cup of coffee at the Italian's, try to take a picture of a clematis caught in the sunlight reflected in the river. The beauty of the real thing is not well realised, but it will give you an idea.
