log

Today's path led all the way through town to the railway station and then up the flood channel to just before it joined the river. A turning along the crown of a flood dyke eventually led to the motorway. It was possible to see all the cars and trucks speed by behind the fence, all leaving plumes of rainwater whipped up from the road surface behind them. The only way to continue was to follow the lane beside the fence until there was a turnoff away from the Autobahn. The Autobahn is very noisy with it's constant freight of cars.
At the bridge carrying the Autobahn  over the river there is a metal pole with two signs on it, on showing a line at the lever of the floods in 1999 and one for the floods in during 2010. Realise that the whole landscape around about was indundated, that the path was at least two metres under water.

Follow the long riverside path all the way back to Landshut. There is a tree trunk in the river, and it is moving at the same walking speed. At one point it hits the bank of the river, then it is caught by the current again and floats out to the middle of the river.

Part ways with the tree trunk in Landshut, it passes under the bridges heading for the Maxwehr. At some stage it will be caught in the reservoir where all the birds are.
