The temperature is perfect for sleeping, it is cool, not cold and there is a slight movement of the air, a kind of steady freshness.
The light is now to bright for sleeping, so get up and go downstairs, the bathroom, and then the kitchen. The coffee maker filled, water boiled, toast laid on the toaster. It all works like a routine, the eggs cracked into the pan.
The coffee made, the toast done and the eggs rescued from the water.
Take the whole lot upstairs, this is the pleasure of starting the day alone. The sounds of an early morning helicopter cause the air to vibrate, and there is the distant call of pigeons. There is the steady ticking of the clock on the wall as well, a mechanical reminder that time is passing and that this relaxing morning will not last for ever. It will stop rather sooner than later.
Read about the last president of the United States, a clown and pop star, a gangster disrespecting the laws that put him into place. Read about the tragedy that is Ukraine, and its sad neighbours. All these countries seem have many believers that power vested in one person alone is a key to successful government. The phrase "nobody is perfect" seems beyond their mental horizon.
The news on the web is sparse on Saturdays.
