surfaces

There is dust everywhere in the bedroom, despite yesterdays attempts to remove it. The dust is from the room next door to the bedroom, the one in which the defective plaster had to be removed. The removal itself was not difficult, as the agents binding the plaster had failed. But it was dry and dusty, and the dust travelled through the crack under the door and put a fine grey coating on everything, on all surfaces. The worst is over now, but the dust will turn up in unexpected overlooked places for the coming year.

Hear the neighbours discuss something, and wonder whether life in the top flat here is the subject of their discussion. Perhaps it is, it means a small alteration in their lives as well. This can all be their business alone, it can only be hoped that they do not find a reason for complaint as they had done previously. The complaints manifest themselves as reminders from town officials informing of restrictions in building laws. There is always and often trouble among neighbours.

Yesterday the cat escaped and took a tour of the neighbours property. This caused a commotion, and the wife spent half the night shouting after the cat trying to persuade it to return. The cat, being a cat, returned in her own good time.

Perhaps some of the dust travelled over to the neighbours garden, and sullied their garden furniture. It is possible, it is all a cause for silent animosity underlying surface friendliness.
