The car is now turning into a small stack of papers after the accident. Word from the assessor is that it is a total economic loss, the damage from a what at first had been taken as a trivial accident is so great that any repair would exceed the vehicle's value manyfold.
A small heap of papers in a transparent plastic cover, aspare key and a spare key for the tow hitch. That is all. It is just a matter of waiting for the lawyer's reaction now.
The sounds in the dark this morning were the delivery trucks for the local pubs and shops in the area. The cool air pouring in throught the wide open verandah door is a comfort, a great comfort when so many others seal in the warm air from their heating systems. Not having a heating system has advantages, but only now. Not at all when the winter's real cold arrives. It will be harder to bear then.
Breakfast of eggs was worthwhile today, and there is a reminder to go to the bank in the mail. They are concerned over the money, and the income, and the personal responsibility. It is all well.
