Awakening at six proved easy, woke half an hour before the hour quite spontaneously. There was even time to take a shower and to make coffee before the alarm clock sounded. There was no sense of tiredness at all. Took the three pills as per doctors orders, and double checked the items that should come on the journey. A mishap nearly occurred closing the tiny suitcase, it seemed as if the zipper was about to break. There should be no need to open it before reaching Dublin, hopefully it will close again and last for the return journey.
At the bus stop stand and wait and watch the cars go by. There are so many huge cars now, there is hardly such a thing as a small car any more. Arrive at the station, and board the train after waiting ten minutes for the delayed train to clear the platform. On board the train realise that this is the train that stops at every station on the route. The constant stopping and starting is tiring. A man boards using a walking aid. Give up the seat for him, the woman accompanying him says thank you.
The advantage of this train is that it goes directly to the airport, there are no connections to miss,
The security check is uneventful and fast. The bags with all the cameras in them take longer, but this is usual. Step aside to put the watch on and to thread the belt back through the loops on the trousers.
All of this efficiency led to arriving at the gate much earlier than expected. Watched as the flight to AbuDhabi was boarded, and then just waited and waited.
Finally, the announcement came that the gates for the Dublin flight would be opened.
Let all the people go by, then join the last few. The fancy electronic boarding card does not work. It worked all the time whilst waiting, and now there is just advertisment.
It is good that there is a printed copy of the document in the camera bag.
Say "old school is best"
The attendant agrees.
The journey through Dublin is pleasant on the top storey of a Dublin bus. See all the old haunts, now changed.
Arrive in Ballyboden.
An intern from the brothers business plays taxi over r the last few miles.
It is good to see the brother again and all the mother's drawings.
