"take it now"

awake
it is four
it is dark
the nose is blocked

Get up
take an antibiotic
forgotten last evening
"take it now"

Get up
it is six
cannot sleep
finish the book in the sitting room

The sound of the sons alarm clocks
and the alarm on his mobile 'phone too

Then he gets up, and walks about,
more than half asleep.
Cannot get a word out,
too tired to talk.

He gets his clothes on, packs his bag,
combs his hair all ready to leave
Then he goes to school
after a cup of milk coffee and a bye-bye.

Lie down on the couch
and sleep the sleep of those with a blocked head
and a 'flu
all without intending to
