Sit up, on the edge of the bed, half an hour after having taken a shower.
Returned to bed then, why not, it is early on Saturday, Sleep on, sleep in, a little bit anyway.
Sit up and suddenly the nose itches, sneeze.
The cat makes a short affirmative noise. The cat always replies to sneezes. A quiet bark-like meeow.
Miau.
Change into day clothes, yesterdys will do, it is saturday, relax, they are all still sleeping.
All except for the cat, who follows into the kitchen, goes over to the food plate, and commences to eat. There is no need to get out extra food. The small animal is satisfied.
Go into the living room, a mess as always. The cat is in the window, looking out at the birds, or the insects flying by. Go over and open the window to let in air, and to allow the cat to poke her head out so that she may better see the birds and the passers by. Return to the kitchen via the crockery cupboard in the hall, cup in hand, to make a cup of coffee.
Hear a groan from the living room setee, see that the son is lying down there, covered up, almost invisible. He has left his high bed in his room and has moved into the sitting room for some reason.
Fill the coffee maker's sieve with coffee, and fix it to the machine, place the cup underneath and press the button. The coffee machine's pressure pump grumbles and groans into action, filling the cup slowly. As it fills, go into the bedroom to collect the silver laptop computer, return with this in hand and turn off the machine. Take the cup of warm rich brown brew into the living room, and take a seat at the table, read the news, then start to write these notes.
The son injured his foot yesterday, he is disinfecting it today using methylated spirits. Do methylated spirits work as a disinfectant? He says it is all the same, but later on we will go out and buy some real disenfectant. The injury was caused by stepping onto a drawing pin which had fallen to the ground.
Agree to go to the cafe later, but express the wish to finish these notes first.
Typed directly into the machine, as on every weekend, and not interpreted from hand writing, as on most working days.
The interpretation of the usual scrawl is a monument to the ability of information technology to interpret the most analog of handwriting.
