On the way back from the café this morning drop into the watchmakers shop. The watch has held well for two years now, but it's strap has not. It is wearing out, the pale leather lining has broken in various places.
The greeting, "hello, is there a problem with the watch?".
Customers are not forgotten here.
There is no problem with the watch.
But there is a problem with the strap, and the wife refers to her husband, who looks into the rack behind him and takes out a strap. Then he rejects it, it has decorative white stitching on it.
Then he suggests one from another manufacturer, one of the same size and the same quality.
That is good.
Then start to talk about clocks and mechaisms and electric clocks and whether or not they need to be oiled. That is a complicated story, a tale of pendulums and frequency and power transmission .
What have you, the son is politely silent.

With the watch freshly cleaned on the outside, and a new strap attached, leave the little watchmakers shop and go home.

Later in the day take a picture of the shop down the alley, a picture with the owner. It is a second hand clothes shop.
