stress, relax

Clocks tick in the living room, and there is a big one ticking in the upstairs room, the refuge room. The ones downstairs are French, the upstairs one is German. Two are telling the same time, the one from Le Havre is erratic. It generally errs.

Toast, cheese and coffee fro breakfast, a few bites for the cat. The cat vanishes, she goes back to sleep. Her morning duty seems to consist of begging for food and then eating it. There are probably no mice in the house any more, not after the cat's regular patrols and the efforts of the municipal pest control people. Two pots of coffee and two slices of bread.

Today is the sons birthday, he is eighteen today and he may go and vote at elections and he is eligible for a driving licence. And on this same day one of the people at the old place of work have decided to celebrate their retirement now that covid will allow such a party. Chance will have it that both parties are to take place on the same day. The son is celebrating his birthday in a small way at home, and the other party is fifty kilometres away.

It is a stressful day for what are supposed to be relaxing events.
