highlight of the day

 In the very early morning today there is a noise from the smartphone. This device is charging on the table beside the bed, Grope for the reading glasses on the table and study the message. This message informs that a camera repair man in Munich has died. The man was aged well over ninety years, but the sorrow on the part of the friend who wrote the message is tangible. In typical fashion for this friend he starts to write about his own fears and his thoughts of death insofar as he himself is concerned. The death of others is a reminder to him that his own will come some time. That seems to concern him greatly.

Return to sleep. There is no point in commiserating when the mind is mostly absent.

Sleep on late, for the job arranged for today was cancelled last night.  

Breakfast and shower, answer all of the emails that need this.

Consider that the first thing to be done now is to go to the shops and buy the few groceries needed to make the breakfast for the next few days. Over the past years the quiet solitary breakfast with the news from the computer has been the highlight of the day.
