Today is a day set up as a public holiday, to celebrate the reunification of Germany after the demise of the German Democratic Republic. As had been planned, start in the morning with the breakfast and then commence with the ironing of the clothes. Start with the shirts, there are twenty of those.
It is slow work for the inexperienced, but things speed up as tie passes. At midday, go downstairs for a sandwich, and then continue until two in the afternoon. Then go out and stroll down to the café for a cup of coffee and a croissant. The short legged man from Syria is on duty today. he is loud and tends to bully the women working there. The stay in the café is marred by one very old lady who talked in an incredibly loud voice, shouting over all the other guest's conversation. She really is very loud, a jarring unpleasant voice.
Finish the coffee and read the news, read about the war in Lebanon and wonder what has happened to the war in Gaza. Read about the American elections, and realise that things must look entirely different for a habitant of that continent. Looking at the whole thing from a European point of view there is only one sensible answer.
