At five in the morning, it is dark outside, dawn may be breaking somewhere, but not here. It is impossible to sleep, so get up and take the laptop to the sitting room. The cat is excited, she feels that all of this is for her benefit. She behaves as if this is so, at least.
Read the news, from CNN, from the Guardian, from the various newspapers on the Internet. There is the sad account of American weapons being used to selectively murder a school class.
In Yemen. As many dead as in the Italian bridge tragedy. More or less. Read about the idea of privatising the American war effort in Afghanistan. And about German politicians saying that the courts should make ruling on the basis of popular opinion. A complete idiot, a right wing small town man.
Tired, go back to bed.
It is light, bright.
Get up.
The cat is excited again.
It is half past seven.
Make a cup of coffee, take a slice of bread and butter, the family are asleep, go to the living room table.
The computer is there, still.
Start to write these notes as the sunlight floods the alley outside.
Look out into the alley, there are still dust marks and stains on the road where the skip had stood yesterday.
The bones and the back ache today from the work done yesterday filling the skip that is now gone.
The computer warns that the battery will soon be empty.
