plastic waste

Look out
look out of an open window
look down the street, an orange waste disposal truck,
men in orange, gathering yellow plastic bags full of plastic packaging,
Waste.
It was made to make the purchase attractive, to seal the product from environmental contamination, it was made to keep the hands of the purchaser clean. Now it is waste.

The orange truck moves on down to the church, the hydraulic compacter making noises as it goes.
And then it returns, slowly moving up the street. And stops.
There is an especially large stack of yellow bags at the corner, maybe thirty.
A man dressed in orange high visibility clothing picks them four at a time and tosses them into the maw at the back of the truck.
The truck moves on.

Look out, it is a bright hot summer morning.
An orange-clad man looks up. a man collecting yellow bags,
he waves and wishes a cheerful "Guten Morgen"

And starts to throw the ten bags belonging to the neighbour opposite into the back of the truck

Look out, the early morning in this small town is quiet
but for the hydraulic sounds of the orange truck eating yellow bags filled with plastic waste.
