There are no dogs on the street, just two men in short trousers clutching beer bottles.
It is just before nine.
They have been working for three hours now.
The hum outside, a compressor, supplying the workmen with compressed air for their tools
Silenced now.
It is three minutes to nine, time for a workmans break.
Nine bells.
Sitting at the table in the untidy living room.
Laptop and coffee.
And having read the news, realise that the only great countries are the quiet ones that mind their own business and do not attempt to mind everyone elses.
And having been to bed late last night, and slept long today, relax and live into the day.
There will be work enough as it goes on.
