Brake lights ahead, cars are slowing down.
Pull over to the left hand side of the left lane off the Autobahn, the cars and the trucks go
to the right hand of the right hand lane. This leaves a wide gap for the emergency vehicles,
And the traffic crawls on, at walking pace.
For almost half an hour.
There is fire brigade activity ahead, and the right hand lane is blocked. They have put up warning cones, and a red truck with blue lights on top has a sighn with an arrow pointing left. There are patches and skid marks on the road, a while farther on there are debris on the road.
Fargther on again, ther is a big articulated truck on it sde, behind the motorway fence. It has the words "Imperial" on it. And now it is in the ditch.
Stop staring, eyes on the road, the left lane is free now. Accelerate away from someone else's horror, who knows what happened here. There were many firebrigade people clearing things, and some staring at the truck.
After a while, the traffic picks up again.
The arrival at work has been delayed today.
