The man comes into the office, to explain

the problem. It has to do with the construction

and analysis of organ pipes. In a sectional

drawing things had been done wrong, and

now could the rough scan of the simple

section please be corrected?.

There is just no way, after JPEG and PNG

and a bad scanner have done their damage.

But what of it, an hours work and the sketch will be redone, after all it is only a systematic thing.

There is a long lecture on organ pipes, or the people who make them, and the things that have only recently been understood.

A vibrating column of air, reverberating turbulence, fascinating for those who can

get their head around it.

Then he peaks of his difficulties, he will go on holidays for two weeks. His wife has shingles, a virus of an old and nasty sort. The story goes on, the shingles have been exacerbated by chemotherapy. The man is worried sick.
