The man arrived shaking water from his umbrella. Took him upstairs to the verandah door, the one that he had said that he would have a look at. He had a small tool in his pocket, and started fiddling about at the hinges of the door, occasionally pulling it and pushing it. He was amused, he said that it was a bit more than the usual jammed door. He said that he did not have his adjusting kit with him, but if there was a small wood screw available.
Then the door that has been blocked for the last three months simply opened, he inserted the screw to hold down a part that needed holding down, and after a few more twirls with his small pocket tool he said that he would be back at a later date with his assistant to do a proper job. This would have to do for the moment.
It is marvellous to be able to walk out onto the wooden balcony of the old house again, completely without problems.
