Today is voting day, the day to vote for or against a pedestrian zone in the town. To vote for a second pedestrian zone. Many of the shopkeepers in the street do not want the new zoning, they believe that their customers only come to their shops because the streets are full of cars looking for parking spots. It is amusing to see that these commercial interests believe that anyone cares whether they or anyone else runs a shop there. The fact that the streets of the small town are filled with the cars of those that are too lazy to walk or who do not wish to use a bicycle.
It is a grey day, the weather is doing much as had been predicted by the weather forecast. There is nothing new here. There is just the sound of distant pigeons at five to seven in the morning. There is some subdued twittering going on as well, maybe finches or wrens or some such. There is the sound of an air rifle shot, and a pigeon fluttering in panic. Shooting in built up areas is not allowed. Not even air rifles are allowed, but it appears as if not everybody realises this.
The polling station will be open in an hour. That means that there will be another hours time from now, that will be time to make to get the day clothes on, to make the bed and to clear away the breakfast things. But enjoy the Sunday morning silence first.
