a young woman with a man's haircut

A long day was spent in the car today, a pointless day in terms of the  original target of the journey. The target was a brocante sale, a typical French outdoor event, and upon arrival at an empty field after fifty kilometres of driving further checks were necessary. It turned out that the address mentioned in the app was not the same as the one the navigation system used. After changing the address it was a short journey to a French parochial hall and a silly bazaar with a few local people. The most attractive thing was a toy unicorn being sold by a young girl. The coffee served at this Brocante was bad and overpriced.

On the long return journey stop at an Italian restaurant and have two Espresso coffees. They are good.

On the return journey pass by La Chartre sur Loir, and have another cup of coffee in the Hotel de France, a place of British racing fame. The coffee is served by a young woman with a man's haircut. This suits her very well. It gives her a most boyish appearance. And she does her job well in that typical aloof French fashion.

The host from the cave buys a pair of warm slippers in a tourist shop, the only other business open in La Chartre.

Return home to the cave, tired.
